The 1986 Measure B authorized a 15-year, ½ cent sales tax which expired in March 2002 and has generated over $1 billion for transportation improvements in Alameda County (see 1986 Expenditure Plan). ACTA staff has frequently taken a lead or partnership role in securing additional funding from other government sources - local, State and federal agencies - to augment the funds available from sales tax revenues.

More than $400 million was brought into Alameda County through these efforts under the original 1986 Measure B, while $1.9 billion is anticipated to be leveraged by the 2000 Measure B.

The 2000 Measure B authorized a 20-year, ½ cent sales tax that expires in March 2022, and is anticipated to generate over $3 billion for transportation improvements in Alameda County by its completion (see 2000 Expenditure Plan).

The 1986 and 2000 Measure B funding streams are managed separately and are audited independently.
