Programs

The first Measure B, administered by ACTA, provided critical operating funds for transit and paratransit (special transportation for seniors and people with disabilities) to keep communities moving. Over the fifteen years that the initial transportation sales tax was collected (1986 – 2000), ACTA:

  • Provided $130 million to AC Transit for operations and maintenance of service
  • Supported 11 individual paratransit services with $17 million, which was administered by local jurisdictions, along with the Alameda County Public Works Agency, which provided oversight and consultant support for these services
  • Distributed over $208 million in local streets and roads funds to all Alameda County cities and to the County overall, to maintain local thoroughfares in good condition

Currently approximately 60% of the Measure B net sales tax funds, administered by ACTIA, are allocated to the local jurisdictions (cities, County, transit agencies and paratransit providers in Alameda County) for the programs listed below:
